A New Chapter Begins: Linus Ip Brings Fresh Perspective to Philadelphia Sinfonia’s Season Opening Concert

November 23, 2025

Philadelphia — On Sunday afternoon, Philadelphia Sinfonia opened its 2025–26 season under the direction of its new Music Director, Linus Ip, whose debut brought a fresh, dynamic perspective to the ensemble’s long-standing tradition of musical excellence.

The program, Voices Beyond Barriers, featured works by Fanny Mendelssohn, Lili Boulanger, Richard Rodgers, and Antonín Dvořák with repertoire chosen to highlight the orchestra’s commitment to expanding musical soundscape, storytelling, and the expressive power of youth.

Linus notes: “What moved me most was watching our young musicians bring their full selves to the music with courage, imagination, and an incredible sense of belonging. That spirit shaped every moment on stage.”
